Into the Horizon!

He chose to ignore the dance, and the laughs that accompanied it. With songs filling his ears and a sword clogging his throat, he walked towards the terrace. Sitting on the stairs that led to it, he witnessed the ever-so-Beautiful constellations that were beginning to shape up and the moon that seemed more gorgeous than ever. All that was visible was the dull outline of the sky and the faint lanterns that were very smilingly lit and set free. It was Diwali. Greetings and smiles were in the air.

The air that hit him through the perforated door of the locked terrace felt chilly yet peaceful. He swiped through his playlist and every song proved stronger and meaningful and unambiguous to cry for in that very moment. Crackers could be heard nearby along with the hooting that followed after a successful attempt in bursting them. In the meantime he had decided the song he should play. Something that revived memories and the lost times.

The night sky felt even more intoxicating and the intensity of all of it just kept on increasing with the course of time. And then there was this question that seemed to be bothering him for a while now. Has he given too much of himself to a fathomless bottom? Has he lost himself in the process of finding someone else? Maybe yes maybe not. The songs answered the numerous questions he could think of.

He held the rusty grill of the door and leaned his head over the side wall. Drowning into the music and the night sky and the memories all at the same time. A drop or two emerged from the corner of his now red eyes and he felt hopeless and helpless at the very same time. But yet he felt stronger due to the emotions that his body were letting go. He felt alive and victorious.

Walking down the stairs he smiled and murmured, “It was a nice attempt, Life. But oh poor thing you failed in keeping my spirits down. Best of luck for the next attempt.” -Prasidh.
